tugtile

A card table for your Markdown notes.

Tug tiles to reorder. tugtile lays your notes out as a board of cards and lets you drag them into place — and it reads the kanban boards you already have, so there is nothing to migrate.

How it works

  1. 1.

    Open a board

Point tugtile at any note. It reads existing Obsidian Kanban boards as-is — and its own tugtile format — so your columns and cards show up without conversion.

  2. 2.

    Tug to reorder

Drag tiles between columns or within one. On iPad every edit opens as a modal, so reordering works the same by touch as by mouse.

  3. 3.

    Switch the view

Cycle the same note between board, table, and a hand-written Markdown view. Lock the board to make every view read-only when you only want to look.

What's inside

Reads your kanban

Opens existing Obsidian Kanban boards with no migration, and offers a one-tap upgrade to the cleaner tugtile format when you are ready.

CJK-friendly

Built and dogfooded in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean — full-width punctuation, wrapping, and card widths behave the way CJK notes need.

Three views, one note

Board, table, and a self-written Markdown editor cycle over the same file, with a central lock that makes the whole board read-only.

Pairs with marktile

Shares an editor core with marktile, the companion Markdown editor — the same engine drives the cards and the prose.

Tug, don't migrate

tugtile is MIT-licensed and lives in the tile family alongside marktile. Install it from Obsidian's community plugins, or read the source on GitHub.
